What Got This Director Here?: Cult favorite.
My Favorite Past Experience Was…: N/A
What Did I Watch: El Topo.
Where Does He Fit: El Topo is designed specifically to be impossible to review. It’s a Western where a bunch of random things happen, but it’s all coherent because of how fitting that opening is with the naked little boy burying his past. Maybe it’s about how manhood is madness and animal, or just the Wild West itself? I don’t fucking know. Just appreciate it for the images, which I saw in frustratingly low quality and which really require a big screen to convey the illegality of some of this shit. Bunuel’s blasphemy was pointed, this is an incoherent rant. Which is more your style?
Most Valuable Asset: A series of nonsense paintings.
Most Excited For: Holy Mountain.
Did They Deserve a Spot?: Sure.
Coming Up Next: The sensually sense8 Wachowski Sisters.
